Day 20: Loners & Rebels

THE WIZARD OF LONLINESS (1988)

#VHSeptember2026 🎥🎦📽🎞🎬🎟🍿 #filmsky #moviesky #wizardoflonliness

A foot-tall plastic hammerhead shark-man holding the VHS cope of WIZARD OF LONLINESS over his headThe back of the box with the following plot blurb: What is Wendell Oler (Lukas Haas-- Witness, Testament, Lady in White) doing wrong? His mother has died and his dad's gone off to fight in WWII. Now, for the duration of the war, Wendell's condemned to fight his own battles with his eccentric grandparents in a tiny Vermont town. Can you blame him for being cynical about his future? While hatching plans for his escape, Wendell spies on the intimate lives of his new family, especially his aunt Sybil (Lea Thompson-- Back to the Future, Some Kind of Wonderful), who's caught up in a passionate relationship with a dangerous stranger. However, when the lives of Sybil and her young son (Jeremiah Warner) are threatened, Wendell discovers he no longer wants to run away and intervenes to save them. Suddenly, the special world of this strange family is far better than the lonely, cynical world he has created for himself.
