Deep in the desert
Where sage and rabbit brush thrive
Beckoning to you

Mighty Goliath, a senior band stallion from Salt Wells Creek, has the unique #curly genetics of his #wildhorse herd. He lost his family and freedom in October 2017 after 26 years free on the range. This October, he swaggers toward the sunset on Sheeps Rock, safe with his family at Skydog.

1/ The amazing #wildhorse #mare Majesty - who is blind - runs after her devoted daughter, Precious, tails held high, just for the joy of being mustangs. Like our other blind rescues, she’s mapped out her pen and has other ways of “seeing” the trees, fences, and bins.

Boomer grew up on Virginia Range without learning any #wildhorse social skills. Herd dynamics usually sort these things out, but he acts like he never belonged to one. A true #loner, he doesn’t stop to consider how his behavior affects others. And we love him just the way he is.

1/ Our beloved #wildhorse Denver passed away from cancer at age 27. She was one of the first four #mustangs we saved in 2016 as a new sanctuary. It was our honor to give her the wild life she wanted with Leigh, a mare she’d spent 15 years with before landing at auction, both very wild.

Slate & Dune were turned out to meet Apollo’s #wildhorse herd. Slate rejected the best efforts to domesticate him. Dune is not a fan of being handled by humans. With Wilson as their guide into #Skydog #wild, their dreams of #freedom have come true.

Evie has been loose in Yellowstone since July. She’s been spending most of that time hanging out at Slough Creek, near the park's northern boundary, with a small herd of bison.
So far she's resisted all attempts to wrangle her. #horselover #wildhorse #Yellowstone
