Paper art-lots of little paper figures about the size of a finger I saw at The Centre Pompidou, unfortunately, I didn't record the title of this work or the artist's information. #WeekPforPaper #Alphabetchallenge #MacroMonday

My great Uncle, JJB 1st, emigrated to the USA in 1927.
Ten years ago, I discovered three hand written letters he sent home documenting his early days in Philly. After months of research, these letters led me to connect with our long lost American extended family.

A printed email dated 7 April 2004, found slipped between some furniture as I was clearing part of mum's house today; clearly a time when I at least half trusted her to do a System Restore on her new Windows XP computer.

An email dated 2004, on paper. The writing is at an angle to the lens, so not all of it is visible. Some of the words visible are
"Computing is not usually this difficult...";
"In terms of the recovery mechanism we used recently...";
"Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools...";
"We then selected 4 April 2004 as the restore point..."

My great-grandma was a naturalized American citizen from Great Britain, via Canada. This #vintage #recipe card in her lovely stylized script is probably just about as old as I am. I love picturing her in the kitchen, & can still taste her yummy strawberry shortcake. #WeekPforPaper #AlphabetChallenge

Vintage recipe for Strawberry Shortcake written out on a yellowed 3x5 card.
Strawberry Shortcake
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
4 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tablespoons Spry [vegetable shortening]
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk
Sift dry ingredients. Add Spry, blend in, then add egg and milk.
Bake in 8 inch square greased pan.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 25 min.
Cut in squares, split in half, butter one side, then put berries in place on other half, then butter [top of first half] and add more berries.
