@davidfimages.bsky.socialWhile out photographing I found 4 large wasps nests dug out by badgers. Mostly football sized, but the biggest was baseball sized. I would have loved to have filmed the biggest one, but lots of angry wasps put me off. They are beautiful constructions.

I think this is a Great Black Wasp (Sphex pensylvanicus), but someone on iNat insisted it's a Lyroda triloba (I can maybe see a subita). It's preying on a cricket here. Any thoughts?
