A washboard can do more than keep time. Here’s “East Meets West” with Soulbleed. Join me October 18 at HONK!’s 20th Annual Street Band Blowout in Brooklyn. #WashboardXT

From “Boom” to “Funkk,” the washboard has plenty to say. My 2taj brings its sound into the here and now. Join me October 18 at HONK!’s 20th Annual Street Band Blowout in Brooklyn. #WashboardXT

“The washboard, it’s not an instrument I chose. It’s something that happened to me.” My relationship with it connects past, present, and future. Join me October 18 at HONK!’s 20th Annual Street Band Blowout in Brooklyn. #WashboardXT

Tomorrow night I’ll be at Reason & Ruckus with Baba Andrew Lamb and Hilliard Greene. I’ve been looking forward to this one. There’s nothing quite like getting in a room with good musicians and seeing where the music takes you. #WashboardXT

Tonight I’ll be at Green-Wood Cemetery with Frank London’s Loisaida Fife & Drum Corps for "Lincoln in the Bardo."

A cemetery, a new opera, and musicians who like to listen to each other and see where the music goes.

Frank London’s Loisaida Fife & Drum Corps recently released "Touzle Your Kurchy."

I love the way we take this traditional music and make it our own. Fife and drum, jazz, African influences, New Orleans rhythms, and improvisation.

There’s a conversation between musicians that doesn’t need words. You listen, you respond, you leave some space, and the music takes you somewhere. That’s what I love about playing with Baba Andrew Lamb and Hilliard Greene. #WashboardXT
