With VexFusion, I can’t design legs for just one body shape. They need to work with combinations I haven’t even imagined yet. 😅

VexBreed and VexFusion sounded fun… until I had to make Vex heads modular in VexBench. 😅

Oh, and my first narrated devlog!

Meet the base Vex I use to test new parts. It learned to walk this week, and still blinks in disbelief 😅

No idea what to show for #WIPWednesday, so I started messing around with the tool I use to test Vex combinations 😅

New parts, random combos, see what clips.

Meet Colette, the thief and rebel.

Her old design was so rough it made me redesign the entire cast. 😅

Worth the glow-up?

Alden, old vs new.

I wanted the redesign to lean harder into a genius-or-mad-scientist vibe. Which one does he read as to you? 😅

The new Alden, studying at his workbench.

Last night I noticed he'd been holding his notebook backwards the whole time 😅 Fixed now. He finally looked up from it.

Voxel-art screenshot from Vexalia showing the redesigned Alden seated at a wooden workbench in a study lined with tall bookshelves. Alden has dark hair, rectangular glasses, square blue-lensed goggles resting on his head, a red scarf and dark clothing. He is sitting behind a wooden desk with an open notebook in front of him, now correctly oriented toward his seat, while he looks up from his work. A small white bird-like creature with orange markings stands beside the notebook. Warm light falls across Alden and the desk, while rows of brown, white and dark books fill the shelves behind him.

Meet Nara, part of Vexalia’s main group.

We’re still refining a few details, and the design will keep improving as we go. What do you think of the new direction? Any suggestions?

Tokyo Game Show starts today, and I’ll be around the eGames Lab 🇵🇹 stand during the event.

A bit surreal being here while building Vexalia on the side. 🇯🇵

If you’re at TGS, come say hi!

Anoris was next in the Vex redesign pass. The old model was starting to feel out of place.

Do you like the new direction?

I thought fixing the hands would be enough. Turns out they were only the most obvious problem. 😅
