Been working on an erotic thriller short and it's been a really fun exercise.

Love. Hate. Murder. Lies.

One helluva birthday present 🍰

#Scriptsky #TwoPageTuesday

INT. OFFICE - DAY
An executive office: minimal decor because the view from the top floor is all that matters. Jack leans back in his chair, squeezing a stress ball.
LIAM (30s) enters after a quiet knock, closes the door behind. He moves with the kind of confidence that gets him ahead in life, and also into trouble.
JACK
Thanks for stopping up. Bourbon?
LIAM
Everything okay? You look like shit.
Jack releases a pithy laugh as he fills two tumblers with amber liquid from a crystal decanter.
He hands Liam his tumbles and they both settle in. Big talk.
JACK
I need a favor. The kind that has to stay between the two of us.
LIAM
Or course, anything.
Jack stares at his drink, swirls the liquid, then eyes Liam.
JACK
I know you've never cared for Ava.
LIAM
That's putting it lightly. Please tell me you're finally getting a divorce from that gold digger.
JACK
No. Actually, Ava and I have a little tradition of sorts; each year she challenges me to get her something unique and extravagant for her birthday. She likes to test me.
LIAM
Oh, sure. Going to really splurge this year and get her a fucking soul?
Jack sighs deeply.
JACK
Ava wants you to stay with us this weekend... for the night. Intimately.Liam's face goes slack.
Then breakneck shifts to incredulous guffaws.
LIAM
Fucking-A! You almost had me for going for a minute...
JACK
I'm serious. Ava requested a threesome for her birthday, and she wants it to include you.
LIAM
Me? You're fucking joking...
Liam searches Jack's face, but finds only sincerity.
LIAM
No. The answer is no, Jack, are you out of your goddamn mind?
JACK
You know I wouldn't ask if this wasn't important to me.
LIAM
Christ, how the fuck do you have the balls to ask me to do something like that? Have you lost your mind?
JACK
You've always been someone I can trust. And that kind of trust has benefits. Financial benefits.
LIAM
The answer is still no.
Liam finishes his drink and slams the tumbler on the desk.
JACK
Don't pretend there isn't a number floating around in your head.
Liam scrutinizes Jack closely. Time to call his bluff.
LIAM
Okay. Fuck it. Ten-- no, fifteen. Fifteen thousand dollars, cash.

Something a little different for #TwoPageTuesday #Scriptsky

Trig Burton was the cheapest son of a bitch Jos had ever met in her entire life, which was why she knew something was up when he busted out the top shelf booze the moment she walked into his office. There wasn’t even a polite ask first, he just grabbed two tumblers, tossed in a handful of ice and uncorked the dustiest bottle in his extensive collection of bourbons.
“A call out of the blue and an unprompted glass of the good stuff? This means everyone else already turned you down, huh?” Jos quipped. Trig smiled, but there was no humor to it.
“I need your brain for this one.”
Jos swirled the ice in her drink.
“I have a feeling I’m going to need more of this stuff if you think I’m going to come work for you again...” The last time they spoke, he was a junior executive on the third floor and she was just building a client base for her burgeoning start-up. Now, Trig was on the top floor where no one batted an eye at a ten o’clock drink, and Jos was making ends meet delivering sandwiches and groceries.
“You’ve always had a certain tenacity I admire, Jos,” Trig began. “You’re one of those rare people who has to find the answer to something, even if it ends up biting them in the ass.”
“Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but I’m trying to stay out of the ass biting business.”
“Why don’t you open this and tell me what you think.” Trig slid a folder across the table. Now it was Jos’s turn to flash a humorless smile.
She opened the folder to find four photos of children tucked inside. The photos were government-issued ones used for passports. The eldest child was around ten years old, and the youngest no more than five. Each wore navy blue uniforms with the Mars colony emblem.
“Cute kids. Martians?” Jos asked.
“Yes, and all four went missing without a trace from Baron Colony last month.”
“Missing? You make it sound like they got lost in the woods or something.”
“Well, without bodies to confirm they’re dead, what else would you call it?”
“Someone covering their ass,” Jos replied, sliding the folder back.
Baron Station was a highly-controlled, secure outpost that boasted more cameras and predator drones than any other off planet facility. Even then, outside the station was thousands of miles of Martian wasteland with a thin, barely-breathable terraformed atmosphere.
“I thought the same thing. Which is why I want you to find out who’s behind this,” Trig replied, leaning back in his chair with his fingers laced behind his head.
“Trig… you don’t want me for this. What about the authorities? I don’t know how it works out in the colonies, but don’t they have police or soldiers stationed there?”
“Nope. Just a central Commanding Officer, and he’s been less than helpful so far…”
“So, he’s your guy– case closed.”
Trig shook his head.
“His son, Thomas, was the second child to go missing.
