5 - Professor X vs. Magneto

Adapting "Enter Magneto," the third episode of the series. Doing the Sentinels before Magneto remains one of the creators' smartest decisions.

4 - Wolverine vs. Sentinels

Adapting "Final Decision," the first season finale (and still, for my money, the best episode of the series).

3 - Gambit vs. Mystique

Adapting Days of Future Past Part 2, which, all things considered, does a pretty solid job of merging DoFP and the X-traitor subplot into one story.

2 - Rogue vs. Avalanche & Pyro

Adapting "The Cure."

As with the other chase cards, this is augmented with silver holographic foil, which makes capturing digital images of it more challenging.

1 - Cyclops & Jean Grey vs. Callisto

The final insert chase set is X-Men's Greatest Battles, all of which feature battles inspired by the animated series.

SLS6 - X-Men: Gold Team Part 3

You'd think Bishop would look more excited about getting to pose for a trading card picture with his idols.

SLS5 - X-Men: Gold Team Part 2

In which Larkin crams 4/6ths of the team onto one card.

SLS4 - X-Men: Gold Team Part 1

Moving on to the Gold Team, Bob Larkin gives us an extra shiny, sharply-defined Iceman (against an Archangel wing backdrop).

SLS3 - X-Men: Blue Team Part 3

The placement of the extra red foil X logo on these is weird; it almost seems like it's trying to "x out" the Fleer logo.

Here's the full nine card Hildebrandt Brothers image from the Fleer Ultra X-Men insert set (via The Marvel Art of the Brothers Hildebrandt book)

SLS2 - X-Men: Blue Team Part 2

In case you didn't notice, while the card fronts feature new art, the cardbacks are repeating the text from the previous Blue Team triptych.

SLS1- X-Men: Blue Team Part 1

The "Special Limited Subset" of six chase cards, exclusive to WalMart, offer up 2 more Team Triptychs for the Blue/Gold squads, featuring red foil lettering on the front

TP9 - Jean Grey

Wrapping up the nine-card Hildebrandt Bros. team-up subset.

But don't worry, there's still more inserts!

TP8 - Gambit & Bishop

Aw, from throwing exploding pies to being paired up on a trading card.

TP7 - Iceman & Sabretooth

I asked Fabian Nicieza about this set's continued placement of Sabretooth w/the X-Men & he said that Fleer mostly produced the cards on their w/o much from Marvel editorial (vs the earlier Skybox cards).

TP6 - Professor X

Featuring Xavier's huge noggin'.

"Of Earth?" Shouldn't it be "on Earth?"

TP5 - Wolverine

Wolverine, of course, gets his own dedicated card in the insert set.

TP4 - Rogue & Archangel

One of the fun things about this set is getting rare character pairings - like these two, who go years w/o sharing any on-page dialogue together.

TP3 - Beast & Jubilee

That sure is a way to depict Jubilee's power!

Also..."teenage tornado"?

TP2 - Psylocke & Cyclops

My Christmas gift wax box only netted me three of this insert set; this is one of them channeling a bit of that early 90s Psylocke/Cyclops flirtation subplot.
