Two cats are eating on the feeding station. One is sitting down on his haunches to eat and the other is standing over him at right angles to reach a bowl on the other side. Around them are bowls and tins at the end of feeding time.

A few of the cats were really attracted to this branch of the olive tree; funnily it seemed that, for the most part, the cats who loved it the most were Twilight and her descendants (such as her daughter Dawn, pictured here).

An older orange-and-white cat has just been woken from a sleep. She is in a blue plastic carrot crate which is lined with folded soft garden netting on a tiled terrace. The autumn sun is sending the shadow of the plants on the wall towards her, shading her head but leaving her body in the sun. She is looking sleepily at the camera, hoping to go back to sleep very soon.

A peach-and-white cat is turning around quickly, mid-run, tail up and legs splayed, changing direction to chase a dilute tortoiseshell cat who is running away from him, head forward and tail up. They are on a narrow soil path through some long lush grass in a garden with trees on the perimeter and clumps of long grasses.

A young adult orange cat is hiding underneath a plant pot which is raised off the ground on a limestone plinth. Sherpa was perfectly happy with his foster mother Cheese, but still naturally gravitated towards his natural mother Dawn whenever she was in the garden. She would spend a few minutes with him before leaving, seeming unconcerned by his welfare 🐾

Dawn had been an excellent mother to her family the previous year, but on this occasion had not provided everything her kittens needed resulting in Sherpa being placed with a foster mother in the garden, Cheese, who brought him up and guided him during his early months.

A white cat with some grey patches lies just inside the house. Her front half is on the grey doormat and she is rolling around happily. Outside is another heavy-duty doormat made from rubber but she has no interest in that one. Two inches inside the house is where she wants to be.
