"Crystallomancy".

I keep my window to the past
above the bathroom basin;
in its steamy depths from time to time
I glimpse the faces of the dead.

Most often it’s my father’s that I see
(more frequently, in fact, since I’ve been
losing weight), but sometimes, too,
I catch my mother’s gentler gaze.
