Here's a photo of a #TawnyOwl that I was pleasantly surprised to be less than 200m from my house. Best view I have ever had of a Tawny Owl, extra bonus of it be so close to my house.

Had been hearing it calling for weeks at night.

That classic 'twit twoo' is two owls not one. The female gives a sharp 'kewick' and the male answers with a wavering hoot. A single tawny owl never says the whole phrase.

In July, @puzzlewild.bsky.social and I went to the Pine Marten/Tawny Owl hide at Scottish Photography Hides. We rented. At the end of the night, we saw tawny owls. Three young ones, and one adult keeping watch.

The hides are great. We’ll definitely go back!

A landscape orientated image taken at Muncaster Castle in Cumbria. They have a fabulous hawk and owl centre that’s well worth a visit if you’re ever over that way. It was our second visit and we’ll definitely go again.
This is a photo of a tawny owl that’s just taken off from a tree stump. The stump is on the bottom left vertical third the bird is central at the top horizontal third. Its wings are out but not yet stretched out. It’s flying towards the right and looking straight ahead. The backdrop is green foliage.

I've lived near these woods for over 10 years. I've heard a Tawny Owl call for years. Today for the first time I saw one out in the open.

Had to rush back to the house to get my camera.

Such a magical moment. Best view I have ever had of a #TawnyOwl
