I can see this being a more tidied up version of its predecessor #TalesOfTomorrow but whether it lands top like eps that show could I don't know yet. But I am sure from this opener which was pretty decent that there'll be no through line to #TheTwilightZone.
@bernardjkd.bsky.social#ScienceFictionTheatre TV 1.01 cont'd.
The intro/outro by Truman Bradley is good adding needed charisma. It related to the actual story unlike #TheOuterLimits control voice which is too peripheral to its preceding ep.
As TV it's too dry and terse like #TalesOfTomorrow but missing that live TV buzz.
@bernardjkd.bsky.socialPlaceholder for my BlueSky walkthrough of "Science Fiction Theatre":
1955-57: 78 v US TV eps [✅YouTube]
How've I never heard of this? Could this FINALLY be the missing link from #TalesOfTomorrow to #TheTwilightZone?
But it is a ZIV show so that makes me very nervous. Yet 1955 colour TV mind!
@bernardjkd.bsky.social#SchlitzPlayhouseOfStars S1 is 48 weeks on CBS TV at 9.00pm on Fridays.
For 1 hour for the first 26 eps but 30 mins thereafter.
Against
DuMont TV: Down You Go (quiz)/ #FrontPageDetective
ABC TV: Crime With Father (crime)/ #TalesOfTomorrow
NBC TV: The Big Story (crime)/ The Aldrich Family (sitcom)
@bernardjkd.bsky.social#StudioOne Ok I found a FOURTH member of my 100 Club under the new criteria.
Joanne Woodward age 96.
Her very first IMDB was #TalesOfTomorrow TV ep #2.19 "The Bitter Storm" (26-Dec-52) which I've watched.
@bernardjkd.bsky.social#Quatermass TV 2.01 cont'd.
Quatermass taking the case right now is a bit easy. The guy has enough problems surely?
But once we get out into the country the production can breathe and show its skills.
Feels very #TalesOfTomorrow sci-fi horror which itself was mainly "The Dunwich Horror" inspired.
@dmreds.bsky.socialThe Horn. #TalesofTomorrow
