Democracy doesn't survive on the sidelines. It demands participation, vigilance, and courage. Vote, organize, speak out, and hold those in power accountable. Our democracy is only as strong as our willingness to defend it.

FDR's warning is as relevant today as it was in 1936. When billionaires and powerful corporations wield disproportionate political influence, government risks serving wealth instead of the people. Democracy must never be for sale. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

Democracy is not a spectator sport. Rights and freedoms require vigilance, informed citizens, and active participation. When people disengage, decisions don't stop being made, they're simply made without them. #Democracy #CivicEngagement #Surge4Democracy

History offers more than lessons about the past. It reveals how democracies flourish, how freedoms erode, and what happens when institutions fail. Ignoring those lessons leaves us vulnerable to repeating the mistakes of earlier generations. #Surge4Democracy

The American experiment was never meant to be finished; it was a promise that liberty and self-government could open a new chapter in human history. Every generation inherits the responsibility to keep that promise alive. #Surge4Democracy

The Constitution was designed around a simple principle: no leader should be trusted with unchecked power. Checks and balances, separation of powers, and the rule of law exist to restrain authority, not merely when convenient, but especially when tested. #Surge4Democracy

Racial justice, economic justice, and peace are inseparable. Dr. King's challenge remains relevant: a democracy must confront not only discrimination, but also concentrations of economic and political power that deny people an equal voice. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

Demagogues can cloak ambition in devotion to “the people.” The enduring lesson is to judge leaders not by slogans or personal loyalty, but by their respect for constitutional limits, institutions, and the rule of law. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

In the center of the rectangle is a quote that reads: “a dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants.” The quote is attributed to Alexander Hamilton. Government does not grant our fundamental rights; its legitimacy rests on securing them. That the government should protect and enlarge the exercise of natural rights is a principle at the heart of the American constitutional tradition. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

Your vote isn’t a gift to a politician, a party, or a personality. It’s a public trust. Cast it for the Constitution, your community, and the future, not out of loyalty to any individual. Democracy demands more of us. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

Liberty depends on government respecting the rights of the people it serves. When citizens fear oppression, their demands for accountability are not a threat to freedom, they are part of how a free society protects it. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy

For generations we’ve been promised that making the wealthy wealthier will somehow benefit everyone else. A government of the people should build prosperity from the bottom up, strong wages, strong communities, and opportunity for all. #Democracy #Surge4Democracy
