If the premise of Animals sounds familiar, that's because it's a loose remake of a 1963 Kurosawa classic, already remade last year by Spike Lee. So that’s the first strike against this one, Carsten says:

If It Ends is an analogy for youth’s fear of adult life, says Carsten, its vision is limited. If it’s an effort to explore existential ideas, it comes off as one long whine:

New on Amazon Prime: Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, with Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, and Coleman Domingo. The truth is out there, and in here:

Friday night streaming: Backrooms, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, and Mark Duplass. The deep, undeniable fear of liminal spaces:

What we have with It Ends is a concept rich enough for a short that’s been painfully extended to feature length, populated by a cast of unlikeable, self-involved characters. It's a slog, says Carsten:

In the end, your mileage may depend entirely on how much you appreciate the shopworn genre of potboiling Second World War dramas and their accompanying cliches. Carsten's Pressure review:
