Welcome to #ForestFriday. To celebrate, here's a photo of what may be the shortest forest in the world. Dwarf willow (Salix herbacea or Salix polaris) is the only 'tree' (woody stemmed plant) on the island of #Spitsbergen in the #SvalbardArchipelago #Norway At most, ten centimeters tall.

It's #MammalMonday. To celebrate, here's walrus on the island of #Spitsbergen, part of the #Svalbard Archipelago about half way between northern #Norway and the North Pole. Although cautious, the walrus did allow us to approach to within 150 meters. #WildlifePhotography #TravelPhotography

Day Nine. The captain said a bear turns up at a landing about once every three years. He said it at breakfast. By lunch he was three for three inside a day and a half. The stones keep being right.
