Intentionally. She was furious, and never wanted him to follow her ever again. She knew deep down the only way was to see this to the death.

In Soren's story, they both die there. The order is flipped - Zenos, then Meteion. A final song of hope... that brings her back. #wolaotd #SorenLore

As he drawls on, Soren grits her teeth, her knuckles clenched so tightly the metal begins to draw blood. A hiss escapes her lips, even as Zenos continues. "Such pleasures, you seek for their own sake, and no other reason. Is this not so...adventurer?" Soren spits on the ground, tail straight and angry, and snaps in return. "This ends here, Zenos. Never have I fathomed the extent of the lie you tell yourself and name it Soren in your mind!" She continues to raise her voice, throwing her arm wide in rage as she takes a step closer. "Never once was it about 'ever mightier foes,' you sick, twisted arse. It is about defending what I love. And I have had enough of you!" She draws her lance, fury nearly arcing off her in waves. She thought Elidibus masquerading as Ardbert was the purest rage she could ever feel - it pales in comparison. Zenos smiles. "Finally mustered the desire to kill me, have you?"

She DIDNT stay calm.

Soren doesnt usually cry, but she was in hysterics when waking in the Pendants after Vauthry. She never felt bone-deep terror like she did then - and tbh never did again, not like that.

But the fear she felt of never seeing the Exarch again was stronger.

Alphinaud allows himself a brief smile, his gaze rising from the papers in hand to the Warrior of Light's eyes. Her narrowed, feline, very angry eyes. Soren gently takes his arm and pulls him to a darker corner for an ilm of privacy.

"Our first wave of recruitment is over, the documents signed, and the finances secure. There is naught to prevent me from taking the next step." Alphinaud allows himself a brief smile, his gaze rising from the papers in hand to the Warrior of Light's eyes. Her narrowed, feline, very angry eyes. Soren gently takes his arm and pulls him to a darker corner for an ilm of privacy. Far be it from her to divulge her past, Soren had always remained pointedly quiet on topics of Ul'dah - or any city state for that matter, feigning ignorance wherever she could. The Immortal Flames she could tolerate - they'd never really been a major bone to pick - but the Brass Blades and the bloody Syndicate was another story. Twelve above, the reason she was even having this conversation with Alphinaud to BEGIN with is because of people like them."What. Are. You. Thinking, Alphinaud?" she seethes through gritted teeth. "I think I need not expound on the reasons that, of all places, Ul'dah money is a bad idea! Even Raubahn has a distaste for his own government!" It's much easier to hide behind someone else. Alphinaud sighs, patting her hand in return. "You are concerned by the Syndicate's involvement? As was I. Thus was the origin of every coin of their contribution carefully scrutinized and recorded." He glowers, turning his gaze back towards the guards' quarters. His voice is ice when he finishes, "This organization will not be built on corruption. Naturally, I would prefer not to rely upon outside sources at all, but even my family's substantial coffers could not sustain a venture of this magnitude."

🔥 Flame in the Darkness 🔥 1982 words 🔥

Here, she is not Soren, nor Azem, nor hero. She is all she ever was: V'kahzu Rhoz.

In the wake of the events of 7.5, Soren dreams in the darkness, a claymore in hand.

Soren walks towards the Ethos portal between worlds. On the left, she wears the outfit she wore during 7.5, her long orange hair nearly the same color as the fire around her. On the right, a silhouette in an Ancient robe walks astride with her, a Dark Knight claymore on her back. The text at the top reads "Do not squander it. The legacy I leave you." Bottom text: "The greatest strength is born of the flame in the abyss."

Long before V'kahzu became Soren, her path was to apprentice as a weaver in Ul'dah. Her father was a vagrant textile merchant, and hoped she could be the foot-in-the-door to a better life in the city.

She should have consulted her father before ⬇️

Soren gestures warmly to potential customers at her father's pop-up stall outside Ul'dah. He stands behind the counter.Soren clasps her hands in joy at the weaver's guild, looking up at her father -- a miqote man with the same hair color (rust and blonde) wearing a craftman's apron. He beams back down at her.

Some of my oldest photos of Soren.

A girl and her birds... her hunting hawk, Nyroc, has been with her since she fled Ul'dah and began living in Little Ala Mhigo. He's the eyes, she's the ears.

I want to figure out a good story for her lanner, bc he's canonically her main mount!

...A song never forgotten. Though it has been years, now, Soren can still hear that tune that danced at the galaxy's edge. When all feels dark, and the future uncertain, you may hear her playing a little tune the passing bard thought ought be named "Dynamis" 🎼

A three-panel gpose image. In the first picture, Soren sits next to the Wandering Minstrel in Gridania. He is looking into the distance, while she looks at him and strums a harp. Soren is wearing a long light blue dress with glowing crystals, matching the Rising theme. The second panel is a similar shot, but from a different angle. In the third, the Minstrel finally turns to Soren, who has now turned her head downward in a thoughtful, cheer smile. Meteion, shimmering as a memory, hugs Soren over her shoulders.

🪶 #Sorien was like finding a smoldering fire; a few pokes at the coals and it roared to life easily and joyfully.

💠 #RahaKahzu realizing she loved the Exarch was like a lightning flash on a cloudless day - unexpected, unforgettable, life changing.

Soren's very first spell was Thunder, and she relied on levin-aspected magic heavily in her early days.

Most recently, Urianger's been coaching her through proper use of Neutral Sect - barriers and planning them have never been part of her personality XD

#wolaotd #SorenLore

Soren deflates and retreats into her clamshell of secrets, the fire in her expression quickly hidden behind placid, neutral features. The hallmark of the Warrior, she had apparently decided along the way. Alphinaud was as headstrong as he was genius at manipulating political situations, and he did have a huge advantage over Soren - the Sultana herself in his good graces. She could not reasonably stop his juggernaut now, least of all without putting her own hide in danger of retribution from within the city. She may be a hero now, but she still felt ever so small. She desperately hoped they would find a way to change course of their funds soon, and in the meantime, offer her help to Tataru with any of the paper trails -- even if just to be an errand girl -- and to see for herself that naught would come to pass.
