I need to get a bigger lens now that I've re-familiarized myself with using my camera, so the merlin pics are tight crops (I upped the sharpness a bit though)
The others are royal terns and a black-bellied plover 💕

Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago). Prior to 2003, it was conspecific with North America's Wilson's Snipe. I've seen both and in the field, I can't tell the difference. To me they even sound the same. Have to rely on geography. 😄 #BirdingHungary #BirdsSeenIn2026 #WaderWednesday #shorebirds

Despite recent conservation efforts leading to an improvement in survival of chicks hatched in the breeding grounds of extreme arctic east Russia, the species remains critically endangered with less than 800 individuals estimated worldwide.
