We’re working I’m on another batch in order to be ready for our first craft fair, and I just had to share this tiny WIP guy. Pen for size comparison.

I’d plead for someone to stop me, but my inner eighties child is responding to this method of healing. Pretty much every-fricking-media I own on a sycamore shroom.

Spalting’s a fancy word for tree rot. A little woodturning blasphemy: I don’t much like it. But I’m learning to appreciate it occasionally, like in the green guy here. (See the webbed lines)

One last for today! Some more lovely-harvested shrooms made from Dunoon wood! The green one glows in the dark.

Some of our trippier wooden shrooms to make your acquaintance. Mixed media on Dunoon sycamore.

I like shiny splatter effects. Sycamore shroom with mixed media.

Here are a couple of shrooms from our latest batch. Sometimes, though rarely, the grain on sycamore’s too good not to show.

Wee yellow hazel mushroom we coppiced a while ago. When cut back, even down to bare ground, hazel regrows. Folk belief says it bestows wisdom, prophecy, & poetic inspiration.

My inner eighties child likes this color combo.

Sycamore shroom, acrylics, inks, iridescent powders.

Some fancy mushroom dudes from our latest batch. It IS shroom season, you know.

Two of my favorites. Normally, there’s not much texture to our shrooms, but I got a little over-enthusiastic with the orange one and it’s got a pleasing tactile feel. Sycamore.

And some group shots, just because. Some of these may get a single post each at some point in the future. All of these are sycamore. Mushrooms are my favorite to paint.

Some more creations! These are all sycamore.

Now my art desk is covered in moss and wood shavings from the big oak slices in the background. 🤣

This one’s spalted a little! I wanted to showcase it today despite the lack of proper staging. Inks, woodstains, acrylics.

One of my favorite tinies, a sycamore shroom of smallish proportions. We’re working on proper website and this one and many others will be up for grabs in the near(ish) future!

I call this the Catahoula shroom, after the Louisiana hound. Hazel wood with ink and paint.

An orange fungus friend who glows in the dark! Sycamore, with paint, ink, and glow in the dark powder.

A starry night sycamore mushroom for you all, hand painted and lacquered here in Scotland. This one’s about five inches/12.5 cm tall.
