Tanner Whiteman isn’t either of those men.
Why? He’d mused about it since the Crash. He was blind, he figured.
Couldn’t see past this own bias and preference for the elegant geometries of
information to realise that the map was not the territory. He was too cowardly
to take a punt and win at capitalism, all because he’d been too afraid he’d have
to hurt someone.
But now… someone was going to get hurt.
Whiteman stares at the map. This is his opportunity to do something heroic.
Maybe he’ll get the dame this time.
