1950s #ScienceFictionFilms rule!

At least, they did in Round 1A of @classic_film's bracket! 😉 Sci-fi is strongly associated with that decade & every advancer was from the 1950s.

That won't be true today in Round 1B, but you can help determine if that pattern continues!

Thank you! I nominated “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” ‘56 and I’m not surprised it knocked out “2001: A Space Odyssey. I may watch Body Snatchers “56 tonight and I think Body Snatchers ‘78 is also very good. #ScienceFictionFilms #TCMParty #FilmSky #MovieSky

We are midway through Round 1 in the #ScienceFictionFilms Tournament...and there's already been a major upset. Don Siegel's Invasion of the Body Snatchers knocked off #5 seed 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Round 1 concludes tomorrow with the remaining four match-ups.

The brackets for the #ScienceFictionFilms Tournament are set. Should be quite a few fascinating matchups there. I already see a few tough choices I'll need to make (and one movie I love that I won't vote for because it was changed retroactively, edited and given a new expanded title 😁).

Here's the bracket for the #ScienceFictionFilms Tournament, which starts tomorrow! This may be our most competitive field ever.

Just missing the cut were Metropolis, E.T., and Back to the Future.

In conjunction with nomination day for the #ScienceFictionFilms tournament, here's a list of the 250 highest-rated science fiction films by Letterboxd reviewers. Just in case you might want to refresh your memory before you submit your nominations.

Don’t watch a lot of #ScienceFictionFilms but here are my picks.

Fahrenheit 451 (1966)
Planet Of The Apes
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956)
E.T.
Contact

My favorite film genre! So many more were close to making the cut. Maybe we'll get a top 6-10 tournament some day.

Aliens
Forbidden Planet
Godzilla Minus One
Terminator
Time Machine (1960)
