Hanging out at parent/teacher conferences; had some spare time to post emojis to support our mini Raina Telgemeier author study next week. I kind of like the color they add to the space!

Still chipping away at our whole number Dewey conversion. 🥵
I would like to personally thank @kellyhincks.bsky.social for sharing the BRILLIANT way she cataloged her state books so they go on the shelf in alphabetical order. This makes WAY more sense to elementary Ss!
This 2nd grade team built a fence for their creepy carrots but noticed the walls kept falling down. I asked about what they could do to change that. Response: “Pray to God.” Got my giggle for the day! Did you get yours?

Woof! I’m running around so much this year it’s been tough to post, but we are still rolling along here.
3rd-5th graders are analyzing short films to identify their structure (esp. the climax) in anticipation of our student author section opening next week!
Our Open Library data - 19 visitors this morning (they put a lego down when they enter). My "usual suspects" now tell me that instead of wanting to stay "all day," they have decided they want to stay in the library "all year." These are my people! 🤣
Made an unexpected stop at @silverunicornbooks.bsky.social to find @joshfunkbooks.bsky.social and @reneekurilla.bsky.social sharing their new book The Dino Door. In the audience was Jarrett Lerner! What a wonderful weekend surprise, catching up with local book creators!
School library book 📕 donations purchased from the wishlist I made at a local indie bookstore goes a long way⤵️
Thanks to my state librarian conference for the fundraising idea! 💡

Started a new job. A new role. With a new grade level. My capacity 😉 to write about systems at a high level while actively building them is going to be tough. However, I will share snippets of my experience and what I’m working on. #EduSky #SchoolLibraries

Really liked this lovely YA take on Pride & Prejudice. Easy reading diary/letters format with lots of short chapters. Touches on LGBTQ+ themes. A nice addition for school collections! #books #reading #schoollibraries #YAlitUK
2nd grade book tasting was so different from 5th! 10 out of 17 students walked away with books to checkout! They also didn't seem to "tire" of the 2 minute timer. Much more energy and focused excitement with this grade.

5th grade book tasting was interesting. I chose chapter books that don't go anywhere but have potential (or so I thought). A small handful walked away with a book. When dismissed for checkout they FLOODED the graphic novel section. Trying to expand horizons.
