#SatMat #TheCurseOfFrankenstein

The first film adaptation of “Frankenstein” came in 1910 courtesy of The Edison Company (You can watch that for free here: youtu.be/s2lYKCIAVoI?...) but it wasn’t until 1957’s “The Curse of Frankenstein” for a Frankenstein film to be in full color!

Like most films featuring Frankenstein’s Monster, “The Curse of Frankenstein” (1957) is based on English author Mary Shelley‘s 1818 gothic novel “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus“. You can read it for free here (archive.org/details/1818...)

“The Curse of Frankenstein” (1957) marked the first time that Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee actually met and shared scenes together. They quickly bonded over their love of “Looney Tunes” and literature

Not only is “The Curse of Frankenstein” (1957) Peter Cushing’s first leading role, he would go on to play Doctor Frankenstein in 5 more films between 1957 and 1974!
