Salty Abandon update! β΅ππ
We've made it to Longboat Key, but an alternator charging issue means a detour to St. Pete before Tuxey, Mango, and I can continue our journey home.
β΅β Pelican Bay is almost empty! A peaceful stop with Tuxey & Mango before sailing north toward Venice, possibly on the outside route. π΄ππ
β΅π§ Time to check the oil! My new Yanmar engine is running clean with no leaks, no coolant overflowing, and no oil loss. What a relief! πβ
βοΈβ΅ Heading north! Leaving Pink Shell Marina in Fort Myers Beach for Pelican Bay today. Watching the tides and currents as Salty Abandon continues toward home! βππ
Salty Abandon is back online with AIS! β΅π‘ After a mysterious tracking gap, MarineTraffic is picking us up again at Pink Shell! βπ€
ππ΄ Gulf Shores dodged a bullet. The wind was blowing pretty good last night, and the swaying trees kept me on edge.
π‘ No damage to the house. Just a messy yard. π
πβ΅ Tomorrow, it's back to Naples and Salty Abandon. πππ
ππ Hurricane βIsaac Hayesβ is heading our way!
That's Joey Ward's nickname for Hurricane Isaias because it's so hard to pronounce! π€£
π Met this Gulf Shores local character at The Hangout for his daily update. Some encouraging forecast changes, but staying vigilant! β€οΈ
ππ From Marathon to the Everglades, Naples, and now Gulf Shoresβall in one week! β΅
Salty Abandon is safe in Naples. Tuxey, Mango, and I are home preparing for the hurricane. ππβ€οΈ
β‘ My Honda 8,000 generator hasn't run in SIX YEARS! Will it start? Watch until the end! π
Yep β shorter for X:
Salty Abandon is safe in Naples. β΅π΄ Tuxey, Mango and I are driving home to Gulf Shores to secure the house before the storm. πππβοΈ
Waking up on a sailboat in the Florida Keys π Coffee first β and a little time to enjoy the marina sunrise before sailing to Marathon! β΅ #SaltyAbandon #FloridaKeys #Sailing
Leaving North Miami while thereβs a weather window to reach todayβs destination! β΅οΈπ€οΈ Letβs go, Salty Abandon! ππΎ
Another stop closer to the Keys! β΅π΄π
Salty Abandon is tucked in at Boynton Harbor Marina tonight. Live music, dinner at Two Georges, and another stop along the ICW as I keep making my way south toward the Florida Keys. πΆπ
Getting the Takacat ready for the Keys! β΅
Got it inflated, the engine on, and the dinghy safely up on the davits in North Palm Beach just before the rain started. Perfect timing!
Back on Salty Abandon with Mango and Tuxey! β΅π»
Almost everything is back aboard, and the kitty crew has already resumed supervising duties. ππΎ
