The #EmpireMineStrike began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1950, to oppose pay #discrimination and #segregated housing. Eight months in, they were barred from picketing and their wives stepped in. After 15 months the company gave in. The 1954 film #SaltOfTheEarth documented the #strike.
