@billydee123.bsky.social💙📚 #BritishMysteries For the next while, British mysteries, but only one's I've read. Not necessarily by British writers, maybe just set in the UK. We'll see. I hope it's ok. 3 authors, 1 series #BookSky 3 authors #RuthWare #JoWalton #MinetteWalters
@2waystreet.bsky.socialThe best parts of #TheItGirl are the creepy parts w/ overly friendly, Oxford porter/stalker John Neville. The rest of the time, it's a very sweet story abt old Oxford buddies who meet in bars, order beaujolais, & move to Edinburgh. I almost forget there's been a murder. #booksky #amreading #RuthWare
@2waystreet.bsky.socialOK, here I go, 3rd #sentenceoftheday from #TheItGirl by #RuthWare #booksky Hannah and Hugh are old Oxford buddies going out for a drink in Edinburgh: "He's even wearing his old school tie with the Carne crest." #amreading #mysteries
@2waystreet.bsky.social#sentenceoftheday #RuthWare #TheItGirl #amreading #booksky "There's a kerfuffle behind the bar & in the nick of time the sound of Beck's Odelay got muted & every1 went silent or as close to silent as a room of drunk students could b." (1st time I've read the word KERFUFFLE in a thriller, just sayin)
@2waystreet.bsky.social#sentenceoftheday #booksky #amreading #mysteries #RuthWare #TheItGirl #OxfordUK "He nodded at the rain, which was just starting outside, turning the stone flags of the pavement to dark mirrors and the lamps to splashes of gold."
@2waystreet.bsky.social#sentenceoftheday #amreading #mysteries #RuthWare #TheItGirl #booksky Oxfird girls doing Oxford girls. At a bar. Oxford's Pub Crawl must really be something. --
"Finally, he slid the glasses slowly across the bar, the cloudy white liquid trembling at the meniscus."
@2waystreet.bsky.social#TheItGirl #mysteries #RuthWare #booksky #sentenceoftheday Hannah becomes an Oxford dropout & moves 2 Edinburgh. She works in a bookshop: "It's Hannah who speaks 2 the reps, checks the stocks, decides how many of the new Paula Hawkins they'll want, whether 2 put Haruki Murakami in the window . . . "
@2waystreet.bsky.social#amreading #RuthWare, "the Agatha Christie of our generation" accdg to the NY Times. In Oxford, an overly friendly porter has been convicted of the murder of Hannah's roommate, April. The porter dies in prison, but new evidence comes to light that he may have been innocent! Dun dun dun! #booksky
