Evening scene during the twilight time alongside a calm tidal estuary in a shining City during high tide, facing across the water at a smaller island named for a famous leader of the nineteenth century; this small island is part of the same City borough as that of our scene's vantage point and in the distance beyond its own small skyline of high-rise residential towers, the much larger and taller skyline of a rapidly growing neighborhood in the adjacent borough with its modern glass skyscrapers and bright lights; the red and white chimneys of a power plant between the two boroughs peek up amid the tall buildings; along the waterfront across the water there is a large outdoor venue primarily used for weddings and brightly decorated with faerie lights; the dusk sky fades to purple as the glowing lights of the small island reflect upon the rippling waters.

This trolley was an important means of transportation to and from #RooseveltIsland—then known as “Welfare Island"—prior to the building of the Roosevelt Island Bridge (1955), the Roosevelt Island Tramway (1973), and the IND 63 Street Line #NYCsubway station (1989).

The other side of a 1957 trolley token, saying "Good For One Fare" and showing a trolley car in the center.
