Aside from the game's bestiary providing you with skills from their souls, I found its idea of having you draw seals to finish off the bosses to be a neat feature.

I remember getting stuck on one of the levels, so I'd like to go back one day to see if I better understand it, now that I'm older. I always did like Blaze and I'm happy she got more popular since.

It's my favourite of the series, but rarely does it get the attention it deserves. Viscerally horrifying with themes I could go on at length over. And Heather is a great character, as well.
