#StevenMiles :
#Indigenous voices are being erased in QLD.
As #Pormpuraaw Mayor #RalphKendallJnr says, "if you're not in community, you don't know what's happening”
Which is why it's disappointing #Crisafulli & #LNP cut the #MinisterialChampion program- gave remote communities a direct voice to govt

#StevenMiles :

A few yrs ago, the #Pormpuraaw community told me they wanted access to #healthcare -the same any other QLDer would get close to home.
As Ministerial Champion I fought to get it done.
This month, it opens.

Here's a clip from when I got a peek inside.

#StevenMiles :

#Pormpuraaw 's young people deserve the same opportunities as any young person in QLD.
That's why I'm fighting for them, against a govt that has scrapped the #MinisterialChampion program & is trying to wind back #Indigenous representation in govt departments.

#StevenMiles :

It's youth week here in #Pormpuraaw.

#YouthWeek is an opportunity to keep kids on school holidays engaged, healthy & happy.

Thank you to the young people I met who call Pormpuraaw home & all the orgs that support them, incl. #PNPM Aboriginal Corp & #RiseVentures

#StevenMiles :

From Pormpuraaw to #Pimpama, and everywhere in between, you deserve to be heard.
I've been catching up with community leaders, health workers and the youngest in #Pormpuraaw to see what's happening and listen to their stories.

I met Syd almost 10yrs ago after he returned from a trip to New York.
An artist and cultural scholar, he had just taken part in the #UNOceanConference.
It's a meeting I won't forget, and on this trip I got to catch up with him again.

#StevenMiles :

G'day from #Pormpuraaw.
Over the next few days, I'll be here to listen to community, about the issues that matter to them.
No matter where you live in #Queensland you deserve to be heard.

Had to don the Lions cap ahead of Sat's grand final, of course.
