1.
The surface gleams dully; I can
smell faint sharpness where the
fluids linger and the thin card
curls, is sticky still.
It's smooth and slightly cool;
it has to be held flat
against the page.

2.
It is a fragment. Of dimensions
two remain (a third sustains
the image, and the fourth is frozen).
Replacing memory – restoring, or
the bringing into being of
what would otherwise have no
existence – one particle of flow,
a harmony alone.

3.
The gleam of sun upon your skin
caught, shuttered, held and
now transformed; the salt of
silver blackened, scarred, and
later squeezed through prisms onto
thin and slightly sticky card.

4.
It serves to move me from
one frame into another.
There is rarely any reason
for the choice of moments —
there is rarely any
choice, in fact.
I steal your scattered
instants for my future use;
I search them out when
instants never seem enough.

I think often,
of those I've hurt.
Left feeling so low,
a heap in the dirt.

It matters not,
that I didn't mean to
Intent means nothing,
only actions do.

Forgiveness...
is much too far to ask.
Redemption...
is not the correct task.

Even if I wish,
I'd done it all different.
That's useless,
like shouting at ocean currents.

I hope your life is better,
that it all turned out fine.
Know that what I did wrong,
it's always on my mind.

The tiredness embraces me
Like a mother's emaciated arms
I reach for comforting breasts
Suckling at the nipple of sleep
But there is not enough milk
And I am wasted and thin with longing
The tiredness embraces me
Like the falling snow
Clogging my veins with ice
It freezes my cries
My fingertips black
And my stuttered joints encased in frost

Blessed sleep evades me
The voices in my head whisper
They weep in darkened corners
Crying for things said, and never said
Words upon words
Like a blanket of cobwebs
Covering me with silken sorrow
And I long for the stamina of youth
When tiredness was for the weak
And all was vibrant red blood
When laughter pumped your heart
And friendship soothed the marrow
But now the tiredness embraces me
And I endure

There's a girl on Instagram, @lyriqueo, whose poems mean something special to me.

We had a fight, and things became complicated. There are so many things I wish I could tell her, but one feeling hasn't changed.
