@plaidstallions.bsky.social This week's catalogue update is the 1987 Tonka Toys Steel Monsters line. When Mad Max proved too pricey, Tonka created its own series of Road Warriors for toy shelves. Sadly, not all of it made it out of the wasteland:

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialIt's officially spooky season, and I have some new Halloween catalogue horrors to show you. Starting with these 1987 Madball masks from Spearhead Industries (more on them soon). More on the site:

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialThis week's Colouring Book Theatre is the "Jaws 2 Activity-Adventure Book," and it's light on both sharks and adventure. It does have a generous helping of terrible though. Grab your crayons and join me if you dare....

@plaidstallions.bsky.social Even before "Street Hawk"aired, it had a toy line in the works. Kenner grabbed the rights to this ABC series and began selling it to the trade. We have a look at the (mostly) cancelled toy line here:

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialMy latest pick-up is a belated birthday present to myself: a Big Jim Captain Hook from the European Pirates toy line. It's a clever way to recycle the Torpedo fist figure from the Big Jim PACK line. More info and videos on the site:

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialNerf Mobiles were a popular item at Parker Brothers, though they probably would have made for a boring Demolition Derby. I was more of a "Nerf Man" kid. I've also added some pages from the 1976 Nerf Catalogue to the site.

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialGoldberger toys sure seemed to have cornered the Ventriloquist dummy "A-List" with Howdy Doody and Lester. Their biggest release is the Dolly Parton doll, which I'm sure got mentioned in a Johnny Carson monologue.

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialI love this 1980 advert from Rack Toys giant Henry Gordy Inc. Loaded with nonsensical Incredible Hulk Rack toys that probably sold well while the TV series aired.

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialThis week's Colouring Book Theatre is "The Great Space Coaster," a surprisingly sincere, oddly meta kids' book, though Gary Gnu's schtick gets old real fast. Grab your crayons and join me!

@plaidstallions.bsky.socialThis week's update is the 1985 Palitoy Action Force catalogue. This was the year the Real American Heroes invaded the UK and the Red Shadows became Cobra, but there were still some glimmers of the original Palitoy line.
