I took a turn while driving through Utah last month, down a long, deserted dirt road in search of ancient treasure.
Ancient pictographs, to be exact.
The earliest of these Barrier Canyon style images: 7800BC.
Fascinating! To this ancient history buff, anyway.

Ancient drawings in red ochre, not sure how to describe. Horns, snakes, figures with big hollow eyes, wrapped in blankets maybe, showing no arms or legs, just a narrowing column down. I was am still mesmerized by these pictographs! Signs of humanity through the ages.More distant view of the decorated cliff panel with the pictographs all over.More figures, one with a more cone head, only one showing barely visible breasts, all others show no body parts other than heads and narrowing columns. Some have vertical stripes within column.More simplistic figues, no eyes, or horns? or earrings. Also figure of a bird possibly, a small hand... far left, odd shape and markings...
