However, such feelings require a compensatory mechanism. That compensatory mechanism is Ego — quite different from the self of other beings in Nature. For Ego is comprised of the compensatory mechanisms of denial, inflation of self, and superiority vis–à–vis Nature, the All That Is, and Nature-God Itself.2 Ego Tells Us We are Superior to Nature Part of this repression and compensation means that impairments that we have because of our unique birth and insufficient satisfaction of early needs, such as language, will be touted as proof of our superiority over Nature. Anyway, this near infinite variation of human personality results in near infinite differences in the ways newborns will be attended to and nurtured.
