AB chooses today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme of:

#Dawn; any bird captured at sunrise

Alt. is #Dusk; any bird captured at sunset

- Great Egret
- Anhinga
- Roseatte Spoonbill
- Great Blue Heron & Boat-Tailed Grackle

#ECK #birdphotography #birdsofbluesky #naturephotography #florida #orlandowetlands #wck

Great Egret, greeting the morning sun with springtime breeding plumage. Larger wader, long black legs, all white body with long white neck, bright orange sharp stabby murder beak. Seen here perched on branch, facing the morning sunrise.Anhinga, wings spread wide, back to the rising sun. Head looking left of camera, distinctive turquoise eye ring visible. Black wading, swimming bird, white stripes pattern on back of wing, tail tips outlined as well. Seen here perched on top of a short dead tree snag in shallow lake environment. Wake up sleepy-head! Roseatte Spoonbill, seen here perched atop a dead tree branch. Standing on one leg to greet the morning sunrise. Peeking warily, perhaps sleepily, over its shoulder, the one eye just now open to observe this pesky photographer. Various hues of pink and red throughout the medium to large size wader vody. Head nestled down against its back, except for lifting the eye high enough to see down to the ground, the long ladle shaped bill is tucked down out of sight. Go away man, I'm trying to get some sleep here!Cypress tree and residents in silhouette. Spanish moss seen hanging in clumps from this leafless cypress tree. Image taken in color, but came out quite by accident in black and white due to lighting. Gret Blue Heron on left side of tree, peering up at a Boat-Tailed Grackle at the very top of the tree.

Helen selects today's #BirdOfTheDay as #BirdSupermodel "strike a pose".

Alt: #UnsungBirds any underrated bird that needs the spotlight.

This Great Egret, at sundown, was working that treetop.

#ECK #wck #nature #orlandowetlands #florida #birds

Great Egret, perched atop a leafless tree against a blue sky. Image taken as the sun was very low, and a gentle breeze was blowing the egret's seasonal breeding plumage back in long gentle waves.

Helen chooses #TheDivers for #BirdOfTheDay today!

Share your fab photos of any diving bird...

Alt theme: #BirdStare Any bird captured staring right back at you!

Anhinga for Me ain,
Great Egret for Alt.

#Birds #UKWildlife #Photography #ECK
#wck #nature #florida #orlandowetlands

Anhinga, mostly submerged, neck and head above water here. Image is a favorite of mine because the bird's tail feathers, spread wide, can be seen just behind and just under the surface of the water Great Egret, staring at photographer, slight side- eye, wondering if that sharp murder beak will be needed this time.

Looks like it's nearly THE END for today's #BirdOfTheDay of #CaptionThatBird 🪶

Roseate Spoonbill, on top of tree, wondering if this stump makes its rear end look big.

#ECK #wck #orlandowetlands #florida #nature #birds

Roseate Spoonbill, bright pink body, pinkish legs, pale pink neck, distinctive wide ladle shaped namesake bill. Perched on top of a dead palm tree trunk, back to camera. Head turned back towards photographer as if to ask that age-old question.

#birds #ECK #birdphotography #naturephotography #wck #orlandowetlands

Long black legs, long bright orange bill.Cattle Egret, looking a bit scruffy as it hops among the rocks of a water control outflow feature, hunting for tasty snacks.

Helen's says that today's #BirdOfTheDay ALT theme is #BirdyLongLegs.

This Great Egret wonders about just how long those thigh bones look, while demonstrating there is, indeed, nothing up his sleeve.

#photography #wildlife #ECK #birds #wck #birdsky #birders #orlandowetlands #florida #egret

Great Egret, standing on edge of cart path in green grass. Egret is all white with a yellow beak and long black legs. This one is pictured facing camera, holding it's right wing out wide as if showing the underside to an audience expecting a magician's entertainment.

Great Blue Heron studies a Boat-Tailed Grackle

#birds #ECK #birdphotography #naturephotography #wck #nature #florida #orlandowetlands

Great Blue Heron, perched in upper branches of a bare tree. Spanish moss hangs down from the lower branches of the tree in thick clumps. The heron is on the upper left quadrant of the tree, and appears to be looking upwards towards the top center point of the tree. There is a much smaller bird there, a Boat-Tailed Grackle. Image in silhouette.

Helen chooses today's #BirdOfTheDay theme challenge of #BirdBuddies !
Can you find two 'different' bird species sharing the same space!?

Alt. #BirdsInGreen Any shade of green on a birds plumage 😊

- Black Vulture and a young Wood Stork

#Birds #ECK #wck #nature #orlandowetlands #florida

Two birds, perched on a branch. Branh of a dead tree, slanting diagonally into the sky, lower left to upper right of image. In the lower left area a Black Vulture can be seen, in the upper right is a young Wood Stork. Black Vulture is all black, with a leather black featherless neck and head, black beak. Wood Stork is mostly white all over, some black starting to show on the ends of feathers. Gray leathery neck and head, long bill slight curve at the end, long pinkish legs.

Atlantic Birding has chosen today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme of:

#Herons&Egrets; any Heron or Egret shot

Alt. is #Borbs; any bird that looks round, chubby, spherical etc.

- Great Blue Heron, startled.

#birds #ECK #birdphotography #naturephotography #wck #nature #florida #orlandowetlands

Great Blue Heron, close shot, bird facing to camera left. This heron had been observed patiently hunting when all of a sudden it totally floofed out. Like a bad hair day windstorm. After a few minutes it was all business as usual, every feather in place.
