Shopping for Halloween candy the whole crew is at the store. Lucius gets annoyed with Stede and now Ed knows Stede already went shopping for candy without him. Ed storms off.

Stede runs in to Mary on another aisle.

Hearts were dangerous things. Hearts could lead the unwary into folly, into battle, off cliffs, into the arms of lovers who were no good for them; despite how soft their embrace or how delicious their breath. Hearts were also tender things. He had held many a heart in his hand, feeling the redness of it, the give and resistance of muscle. Hearts could harden too. He’d found one once when he was a wee bairn, walking along the cold stony beach. Herself was in a gentle mood, trickling along the stones and nudging and rolling the loose ones into glossy perfection. There the heart had lay, by its lonesome in a bed of seaweed, calcified by some miracle and studded with barnacles. He had picked it up in both hands and shown it to mother who had stood alone a ways down the shoreline, the wind in her reddish brown hair and pulling at the dun shawl she’d wrapped around herself. He had wanted her to split it open and do an augury to tell the future. What future he couldn’t remember, but something exciting. She could do that. She could tell what was coming in the patterns of birds in the skies or fish in the seas, through the entrails of sheep and the hearts of men. She had looked at it long with her dark eyes growing darker by the moment, and then rested her hand over it. ‘Fortunate heart indeed,’ she had said. ‘This is what happens when you keep your skin tight on you, Nathaniel. You are preserved. You endure. Even beyond the ending of the world.’ And then she had lifted her hand and tugged her shawl tight about her, her gaze turned once more to the sea. ‘And if you lose your skin, you are nothing.’

Still working on this Your Time Starts Now series photo. Archie's rocking all red & a manic expression (changed from initial sketch), & I did some work on deepening the colour on Ivan's outfit.

(Always interesting how different lighting affects the colours in photos.)

'Bad dream, love?' Ed says, reaching up to gently touch Stede's half-buried face. 'No. Really good dream actually. The best dream. One I've had a thousand times. We were running towards each other on a beach, being reunited at last. We were so happy! 'Yeah, that's a good one alright! 'You've had it too?' 'Only a few hundred times. Used to hate it. Not anymore though, Ed said, with a grin. 'Why did it make you sad though?' 'Because I ruined it. The real life version. I ruin things. I'm a known ruiner. What should have been a, well, literally a dream reunion for us this morning. But I was too... too annoyed, too moody, irritable, itchy, and slightly sunburned to even appreciate it! Also, my socks got wet and never dried properly! Ed bites his top lip to prevent himself laughing directly into Stede's face. Definitely not the time.
