#octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 18: #inferno Maybe not really in the same quality as Suspiria, but it's still a great movie & also still one of director Dario Argento's best movies. It also has a great atmosphere & the Mater Tenebrarum song really does a great job building up the suspense for the movie's climax, it's like the feeling you get when you're almost near the final boss in a video game. The 2nd movie of Argento's The Three Mothers trilogy, the 1st one being Suspiria & the 3rd & last movie being Mother of Tears. Mother of Tears is not only the weakest & worst movie in the trilogy, but it's also one of Argento's worst movies. It doesn't have the atmosphere & the suspense like Suspiria & Inferno, it doesn't have any memorable music score or soundtrack, and it has a lot of bad CGI effects, cause it was made & released in the early 2000's! #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 17: #suspiria This is a masterpiece in Italian horror with great mix of supernatural, giallo & slasher. It has great suspense, an eerie & creepy, but great music by Goblin & of course, great gore effects. The 1st movie of director Dario Argento's The Three Mothers trilogy, with the other movies being Inferno & Mother of Tears. In 2010's they had the nerve to make a remake of this movie! Not only is it very unnecessary, but it's blasphemous! But at least that piece of shit movie never got the same recognition as the original movie & it's pretty much forgotten today! #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 16: #bubbahotep It's such a crazy but also at the same time a touching story. This movie should be rediscovered again, especially for the new fans of movies & horror. I mean a movie about an older Elvis, the King of Rock N'Roll, played by Bruce Campbell, the King & the Icon of horror & B-movies, fighting against a Mummy - I'm sold! A prequel, Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, has been in development hell for years. #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 15: #fromdusktilldawn "Two brothers stuck in a bar full of vampires & something happens to the other brother", yeah the movie Sinners ripped that part from this movie off, except From Dusk Till Dawn is a MUCH BETTER MOVIE than Sinners! Was originally meant to be a Tales From The Crypt movie, but in the end became its own movie instead. How a TFTC movie version would look like you should check out the pilot trailer with Joseph Pilato (Day of the Dead) as George Clooney's character Seth Gecko. There's a sequel that was not that good or even memorable, a prequel with an interesting idea but wasn't executed that well, a TV-show remake & the 1st episode was so bad that I didn't bother watch the rest. The actors playing the Gecko Bros. in that show was very miscast & looked more like models than ruthless robbers! #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 14: #anamericanwerewolfinlondon One of the best movies in the werewolf genre & it has the most memorable & one of the best, If not THE best werewolf transformations on film! The transformation make-up was so great that it got make-up artist Rick Baker an Academy Award for Best Make-up (a category that was new at the time). A well deserved win! Some people might be suprised that the movie also has some funny moments, but considering this is directed by the same guy who made Animal House & Blues Brothers it actually makes sense. #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 12: #killerklownsfromouterspace It's pretty much a parody of the 50's sci-fi horror genre & even the title is pretty spoofy. This is a cheesy, charming & funny movie that you have to at least see once in your life & there's a reason why this movie is such a cult classic! A sequel has been in development hell for many years and so far it's been very silent If the sequel will ever happen at all. It actually has a plot: The main character from the 1st movie is now the town drunk, nobody believes his Killer Klowns from outer space story, the Killer Klowns return to earth & it's up to him & a couple of young street performers to save the day. An unnecessary remake has been in the talks with Ryan Gosling producing it. I rather have the sequel than a remake! #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 9: #atmidnightilltakeyoursoul The first Brazillian produced horror movie & also one of the first few 60's horror movies to have blood & gore. I would say Coffin Joe is a very underrated horror icon character & not very well known except among film nerds & hardcore horror fans. Those long fingernails of Coffin Joe are actually real, the director, co-writer & the main lead, José Mojica Marins, was also well known for his very long fingernails & he did sometimes cut them, but for the most part they where usually long & I'm pretty sure they where still long the day Marins passed away in 2020. There's two sequels - This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse & Embodiment of Evil. #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 8: #thething A perfect example of a great remake & one of the few rare examples where the remake is better than the original movie. To me at least, some people might prefer the original, The Thing From Another World, and that one is a good movie too. There are a few comicbook sequels & a prequel from Darkhorse Comics, a video game sequel, a planned miniseries sequel from SyFy that got cancelled, a prequel from 2010's just called The Thing (it looks bland & the CGI didn't look as great as the practical effects in John Carpenter's movie) & recent news says that John Carpenter is involved in the next Thing movie. I don't know If it's gonna be a sequel, a reboot or another remake, but with Carpenter involved I'm a little more positive. #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 7: #creepshow The movie is heavily inspired by EC Horror Comics such as Vault of Horror, Haunt of Fear & Tales From The Crypt, which both director George A. Romero & writer Stephen King (who wrote the screenplay & has a role in the movie) were fans of. And they really captured the feel of those comics, it's really well made & I love how they added comic panels for transitions & love the gore effects by Tom Savini! One of my favorite movies & one of my favorite anthology movies, If you haven't seen it then go and watch it! It got two sequels, the 2nd movie is okay & even though it has some memorable moments & is watchable, in comparison to the 1st movie it was pretty disappointing. The 3rd movie is horrible & horrendous, it doesn't look or feel like a Creepshow sequel, it was more of a Z-grade Trick' R Treat ripoff! In 2019 Creepshow got a TV-show & even though they only showed two stories per episode it was still SO MUCH BETTER than the 3rd movie! #octoberhorrormoviechallenge Day 6: #anightmareonelmstreet Before Robert Englund got cast & became forever known as Freddy Krueger, actor David Warner (Omen & Necronomicon: Book of Dead) was originally cast & there's even a picture of him doing the make-up test, but he had to drop out because of schedule issues. The movie also became Johnny Depp's film debut, though he originally just followed his friend Jackie Earle Haley to the auditions & Depp got the role because director Wes Craven's daughter thought he was dreamy. Ironically Jackie Earle Haley would years later play Freddy Krueger in the horrible & bland remake. Of course it got sequels, 2, 3 & New Nightmare being the most memorable of them all while the others where just meh. And then came the crossover movie Freddy vs. Jason. There's been talks of a new movie & search for a new Freddy, I think Mike Leavy from Terrifier should be the new Freddy.
