@qornik.bsky.socialHere's my succinct summary of key themes from the recent #OASPA2026: In OA Sustainability is a worry, Assessment is an opportunity, and AI – so far ambivalent. (Longer post on LIn.)
Enjoyed catching up with more people than can be mentioned here

@rouhiroo.bsky.social#OASPA2026 - what is one piece of #openInfrastructure that's crucial - #METADATA is so critical for science. We need systems to speak to each other and most scientists don't know how to doc their data so their metadata creation is poor, at best. #Openaccess #OpenScience #ResearchAssessment
@pkp.sfu.ca🙌 Have we connected with you at @oaspa.bsky.social's #OASPA2026 yet? Today promises to be full of #OpenKnowledge, #OpenInfrastructure, and #Interoperability discussions, topics core to our communities and what we do, so let's connect!

@thoth-metadata.eurosky.socialWhat does sustainability mean for #OAbooks ? #OASPA2026
For @copim.bsky.social, more than financial viability: it is about community governance, relationships across the ecosystem, fair recognition of labour, and resilience – 'scaling small' rather than growing big. More: doi.org/10.21428/785...
@copim.bsky.socialIf you're attending #OASPA2026 this week, you can catch team Copim's/the LSE library's Kira Hopkins tomorrow at 9.05am! They will be speaking on the panel 'The Many Faces of Sustainability in #OpenAccess'.
Then come to Copim Corner on Tuesday evening to discuss!
@copim.bsky.socialToday at Copim we're reflecting on 'community' & 'collectivity' in #OpenAccess - & #OA marketing - & revisiting this post from 2024 when the #OAWeek theme was 'Community over commercialisation'
How can we tell when these terms are buzzwords or meaningful principles?
@ajol.infoAJOL at #OASPA2026!

AJOL looks forward to contributing to conversations on Open Access.
@rouhiroo.bsky.socialNoks lands a killer 👊 by noting open knowledge =/= universal benefit (omicron discovery in SA), not all benefit #OASPA2026 so what is useful for society and who determines what is "useful" - we need to ask ourselves - yes if we open knowledge it benefits, but who? #openaccess #OASPA2026
@rouhiroo.bsky.social? of legitimacy is tough: Can open practices build public confidence in knowledge producing institutions? @Natalilia Sokolovska - YES. Communication btw science and society is CENTRAL to this (SR: yes yes yes!) Very important to have effective science/society interface. #openaccess #OASPA2026
@rouhiroo.bsky.social"Is openness alone enough to sustain the legitimacy of what we do as a knowledge producing/sharing/connecting society? How do we retain resilience/relevance?" #openscience #openaccess #OASPA2026
@rouhiroo.bsky.socialMaking knowledge more open so it can enhance contributions to society and solving global problems remains central - "open" knowledge has a moral dimension and raises questions about participation/legitimacy/power dynamics #openscience #openaccess #OASPA2026 @ersatzben.com
@rouhiroo.bsky.socialMalavika asking the question - how does open knowledge contribute to society? #OASPA2026 #openscience #openaccess first panel kicks off!

@rouhiroo.bsky.social"Open is no longer enough. #OpenScience is made by communities - ppl make invisible infrastructure - this all relies on ppl - editors, researchers, libraries, developers." ~Jadranka Stojanovski – University of Zadar #OASPA2026 #OpenScience #OpenAccess
@rouhiroo.bsky.social"Join minds to common mission to promote #openaccess open publishing. Where do we have shared common goals? Let's start there bf jumping into differences." @sofiewennstrom.bsky.social kicking off #OASPA2026
