Colorful native costume on Indians from South American women, in rainbow hues with feathered hats. Taken at the parade held in Washington, DC at the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian more than a decade ago. Blog post tells more about it.

Okay, BlueSky Quilters! I reworked this to where I like it. Here it is, with my figurine from Arizona. #quiltsky @smithsonian.bsky.social Blog post next week, with patterns. #nmaiquiltalong More info in ALT.

Four blocks with Native American motifs done in blues and yellows. The one yellow spacer pays homage to the idea the outer border mentioned: openings to the East.

I sewed like a fiend today. Can I just say my LEAST favorite quilt border of all time is the piano keys border (sewing bunches of little strips together) because THEY NEVER FIT (so don't look too closely). I filled out the label request and sent it off. DONE! #quiltsky #nmaiquiltalong

Finished quilt top from four different blocks: bison, Hawaiian block, hand on diamond background, circular motif with a variation of Seminole border.

Here’s how that last block of the #nmaiquiltalong turned out. I turned the water symbol from a wave into a river, having it run along the edges of mountains. @smithsonian.bsky.social #quiltsky

Click to see all four blocks of the #nmaiquiltalong sewn together! The final border info comes on October 1st, and I’ll finish it up then. #quiltsky @smithsonian.bsky.social

Four different blocks representing four different eras of Native American history are pieced together in a panel.
