Now in niri-git: you can trigger niri hotkeys through VNC!

This was a huge endeavor by Patrick Gaskin to rework virtual-keyboard (and -pointer) support in Smithay and niri to behave more like a regular keyboard. Many rounds of review with many edge cases discovered and fixed.

#linux #danklinux #dms

My talk on how to test a Wayland compositor is now live on YouTube, and I prepared full English subtitles! Give it a watch here (enable subtitles in the player): youtu.be/w44fYK5z418?...

The first half overlaps my RustCon talk, but the second half (client-server tests) is new.

I just tried a 9.7M upload and it maxed out 32G of RAM and went down again. I have no idea of it's a legit bug but I do know a failed upload shouldn't crash a browser.

Yep, that was it.

Oddly, it accepts the full gallery upload and only fails when I post. Then it takes the whole dang browser with it. #arch #niri #firefox

This is mildly annoying. Firefox is crashing silently when I try to upload images. This is the only site I have issues with. Without pulling the logs, I expect I may be hitting some file size restrictions so we'll try one. #arch #niri

Does require #Wayland but, idk man, aren't we far enough along yet that one can at least /try/ to go full Wayland these days? (he says, from the sidelines, having last used desktop Linux as a daily […]

I am incredibly proud and happy to see #niri take up a prohibitive LLM policy.

I'll finish that hot corner pr soon I swear (this operating systems class is kicking my ass)
