Wishing you all an absolutely #golden #ForestFriday. #Trees #Forests #Woods #October #Fall #Leaves #PNW #Scape #ECK #NatureIsArt #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing

Golden leaves and silhouetted tree branches frame what’s left of the Willamette River slough that passes through Minto Brown Park as the drought continues. Still, the remaining swath of water reflects the bright blue afternoon sky. A forest of many kinds of trees lines either side of the river.

Join me on this path lined by several very thick trunks. This was taken several summers ago. #ThickTrunkTuesday #Trees #Woods #TautphausPark #ID #TakeAWalk #NatureIsArt #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing

A shaded, dark brown path with grass growing on either side goes through a tunnel of great, huge, old, twisted trees. There are evergreens on the left, and deciduous trees on the right, full of new green leaves that still leave some blue sky visible. This was a June day in Idaho Falls almost a decade ago.

For #RockinTuesday, this section of #ProposalRock on the #ORCoast indicates some incredibly intense #geology. With the #Cascadia subduction zone just off the coast, it’s no surprise. #TidesOutTuesday #NatureIsArt #BePrepared #PNW #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #YouMatter

The south side of Proposal Rock at Neskowin on the Oregon Coast shows layers of basaltic and sedimentary rocks in tones of tan, blackish red, and orangish brown. Some of the layers on the left side jut upwards, at about an 80-85 degree angle, while other layers intersect these layers near the top of the picture closer to horizontal. These wildly different angles indicate some crazy violent geological upheaval and volcanic activity, which makes sense because of its location along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which we need to be aware of… for “The Big One”. And somehow, I just love going to the Oregon Coast and any minute… I can’t think about it right now. But the rocks clearly have a cautionary tale to tell.

The aliens have landed, and they like garlic! But seriously, this #Macro of a wild garlic seed head looks like a bunch of #aliens emerging from a spiky UFO. #MacroMonday #SpookySeason #NatureIsArt #Photography #Pareidolia #GoOutside #PNW #ECK #Breathe #Notice

A spiky, reddish-purple wild garlic seed head on a green stalk against a tan and dusty green background has little light green “aliens” (probably flower buds) with the classic big eyes and even something that looks like a tiny smile popping out of the top.

Red Kite, contrail, blue blue sky

Square colour photo of a red kite soaring in a clear blue sky, which has a jet plane contrail stretching from the bottom left corner of the frame to the centre top. The bird is in the lower right part of the frame, soaring from right to left, wings outstretched. It is in silhouette

I also like #foggy #weather because it is so moody, and also because it leaves little fog drops all over. #BlueSkyArtShow #dewdrops #BNWMacro #Macro #Photography #ClassicMono #NatureIsArt #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing

A macro monochrome shot of an atlas cedar sprig with little dewdrops like crystal orbs that gathered on the needles during a foggy night.

Foggy morning: Egyptian Geese flying low over the meadow

#BlueSkyArtShow #Weather

#BirdOfTheDay #Geese

#ECK #EastCoastKin #Photography #Birds #BirdsOfBlueSky #ClassicMono #10MinutesFromHome #NatureIsArt

Black and white minimalist photo of 12 geese flying low across a foggy meadow. The geese are flying away from you and to the left a bit. Their wings each cut different shapes. They are enveloped in a grey and opaque fog. The lower half of the frame is dark and shadowy. This is the river meadow from where they have just taken off, honking their way through the moody morning

Brilliant, harsh sunlight highlights the water from behind, making the surface shimmer with intense white sparkles while the surrounding bare branches and banks fall into deep, dark silhouettes. A delicate, wispy layer of steam or sea smoke rises softly off the surface of the freezing water, weaving through the jagged dark rocks jutting out of the current.

Black and white horizontal photo of a wooded scene. Sunbeams shine through trees, branches and fog, emanating from the top left corner. The scene is a mixture of shadows and light. It is morning and there is a lifting fog, as the October sun cuts through it

What an aesthetically pleasing set of fall maple leaves. #ColorADay #YellowThu #FallLeaves #Autumn #October #LeafPeeping #PNW #ECK #NatureIsArt #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #YouMatter

A spray of maple leaves emerging from the morning shade and into the sunlight. Three are still green, but the larger two are bright golden yellow, especially the biggest one in the center.

A little something from my archives for #WaterWednesday. A late afternoon walk by a lake with amazing #WaterTexture. #ClassicMono #Monochrome #NatureIsArt #PNW #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #Don’tGiveUp

A monochrome shot of ripples and bare tree reflections make long interesting squiggle and swirl patterns on the silvery water surface.

It’s still unseasonably warm here, but the #trees are still doing their #October thing. #ColorADay #RedWed #Autumn #Fall #Leaves #PNW #ECK #Photography #NatureIsArt #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing

Looking up at the backlit leaves of a red maple tree turning a lovely shade of glowy red against the clear, blue sky. Branches and twigs are silhouetted black against it all.

Whinchat on a wire

#BirdOfTheDay #Perched

#ECK #EastCoastKin #Photography #Birds #BirdsOfBlueSky #10MinutesFromHome #NatureIsArt

Vertical colour photo of a female whinchat on a telegraph wire (I think it’s a whinchat, but I’m not 100% sure - they are migrant visitors round here). The wire runs from centre left of the frame to top right and the bird is perched facing to the left and in the upper left corner of the frame. The photo is taken from below, looking up. The autumn sun lights up its breast and the photo has a brownish hue throughout. On the right of the frame is a fuzzy, unfocused browny, greeny, golden tree in the background
