Sunset: Bodega and the World Trade Center

Seen from my apartment on Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn. Had graduated from Pratt but was still livin' on ol' "Murder" Avenue.

Shot on film of course as the digital thing was not up and running quite yet (1987).

A color photograph made in Brooklyn: a bodega is in the lower middle of the photograph, floating in inky blackness, which acts as the foreground. A street (Myrtle Avenue), seen only by street and traffic lights stretching into the distance is on the left hand side of the frame. A colorful sunset dominates the top 45% of the frame, with the silhouette of the World Trade Center toward the right side. This tiny bit of the frame becomes the true focal point of the image (given the weight of history).
