A year ago, I completed a road trip from Sydney to Uluru and back with my black lab, Jet. I wrote about our return journey in "A Dog and Van Road Trip — Part Three: Uluru to Sydney". (You may need tissues!) ❤️🐶🚍 www.tallandtrue.com.au/blog/a-dog-a... #dogs #mydogposts #vans #vanlife #roadtrip #uluru

Aww, look at dear old Jet's happy-to-be-home face after our 6,900-kilometre van road trip to Uluru! ❤️🐶 #dogs #mydogposts #vanlife #roadtrip #uluru

Screenshot of my Facebook post from 1 year ago with 3 photos of my 14-year-old black lab Jet after we arrived home in Sydney from our Uluru road trip. One, with his ears back, eyes squinting and tongue licking showing a puppy dog face when my wife opened the van passenger door. The second having of him having a drink from his favourite water bowl in the front yard. And the third of him fast asleep under my writing desk.

Memories of the last day of Jet and my #Uluru #roadtrip last year, and our night at the #Mudgee Riverside Caravan Park. I sensed my dear old dog would be happy to get home! ❤️🐶 #dogs #mydogposts #vans #vanlife

Screenshot of my post from last year with a "conversation" between my black lab Jet and me about whether he'd like to keep going on the road trip or stay home, and a side-on selfie with Jet's head in profile.

Memories of losing my first black lab, Harry, 15 years ago today. He passed away with his head on my lap, like my dear Jet last year. "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." ~ #WillRogers 💔 #dogs #mydogposts

Screenshot of my timeline memories post from 15 years ago announcing the passing of my black lab Harry with a photo of him lying on the grass in front of his ball, looking at me and inviting me to play.

Before my beloved black Lab, Jet, there was dear old Harry. I miss them both. 😢 #dogs #mydogposts

Screenshot of an Instagram post from 2012 with a of my black Lab Harry, and the comment: "I lost Harry 12 months ago - this was my last photo of him (he looked tired). I still miss you, my good dog."

The amazing thing about this photo is that looking at it tricks my brain into feeling dear old Jet's labby coat on my fingers! ❤️ #dogs #mydogposts

A screenshot of my Facebook timeline memories posts from September 2020 of the back of the head and upper shoulders of my dear old black Labrador Jet staring into through the doorway of a local cafe hoping for a treat.

A wonderful memory, arriving in Uluru with my dear old black lab Jet 1 year ago today. I documented our travels in a three-part blog post, starting with A Dog and Van Road Trip — Part One: Sydney to Uluru. ❤️ #dogs #mydogposts #vans #vanlife #roadtrip www.tallandtrue.com.au/blog/a-dog-a...

Aww, one of many good morning Jet posts from last year that'll be popping up in my FB timeline memories over the next 5 weeks. This one was from Father's Day in Bourke, our third night on the road, and where I wrote my September 2025 #FuriousFiction. ❤️🐶 #dogs #mydogposts #roadtrip #writing

My black Lab Jet squinting in the morning sunlight while sitting in his sleeping area in our road trip van, under the pop-up kitchen table and writing desk, beside the fridge and my bed.
