We’re at #EUOceanWeek as discussions on an ambitious #EUOceanAct and the socio-economic benefits of #MPAs get underway.

A strong Ocean Act must move beyond coordination & ensure effective management, enforcement, & monitoring of MPAs to support a sustainable blue economy.

🌍 5% of the Baltic Sea’s eelgrass is under critical conflict: a clash between where meadows provide the most but are under the highest pressure.

Two-thirds of these conflict zones are inside #MPAs.

Designation does not equal protection.
