I was hoping to have the video of the Hastings game finished by the 14th - the 960th anniversary of the battle - but real life has got in the way. So here’s a few photos of a terrific game with the Hastings 960 team at The Other Partizan. #miniatures #nerdlings #spreadthelard #midgardheroicbattles

Busy afternoon but Hastings 960 is set up and ready to go at The Other Partizan! Impossible to fit it all in one shot so here’s a 40 second video. #miniatures #wargaming #nerdlings #spreadthelard #midgardheroicbattles #1066

Finished these Ragnarok Miniatures “Sons of Odin” javelin men nicely armed with two spears. Based up for Midgard. Lovely, crisp, clean, uncomplicated models. They are going into action at “The Forgotten Battle - Fulford 1066” - Steel Lard, Sheffield UK - 14th November.

With all their characteristic colour and spectacle, Boondock Sayntes are bringing Third Panipat 1761 (see Ian’s poster for the details of this astonishing Indian battle). You can find them in the Lard Zone this time around. #miniatures #wargaming #spreadthelard #midgardheroicbattles #nerdlings

The third Midgard Heroic Battles game at The Other Partizan this Sunday is not your everyday Midgard scrap. #miniatures #wargaming #spreadthelard #midgardheroicbattles #nerdlings

This publication from Nick of Medieval Wargamer YouTube channel is a wonderful work of art. It could well move to the top of my next project list for Midgard.

The second Midgard Heroic Battles game appearing at The Other Partizan on Sunday 11th October is the work of Matt Slade, who’s diving into Narnia. You’ll find Matt (and his Turkish delight) in the Lard Zone. #miniatures #wargaming #midgardheroicbattles #spreadthelard #nerdlings

Hope to catch you there! We’re at table DG13, straight through the entrance and over on the right. Look for the Hastings 960 and Midgard banners.
If you can’t make it, we’ll be taking plenty of photos.

While we’ll be running a game of Midgard Heroic Battles, I haven’t painted a single figure. The game is the work of the Hastings 960 project, portraying England’s most famous battle with 16,000 minis from Peter’s Paperboys .

Next Sunday, 11th October is The Other Partizan show run by Partizan Wargaming and History in Newark, UK and it’s a bit of a different one for myself and the Morris & Chums crew.

Something new for me, an appearance on the Rock Paper Swords podcast hosted by authors Matthew Harffy and Justin Hill.
Ryan Lavelle and I were on to talk about the forthcoming ‘Winchester Shieldwall’ Viking age wargames event. #miniatures #wargaming #spreadthelard #nerdlings #midgardheroicbattles

Good fun & great company. The Vikings were rolling hot throughout the last two turns of the game, but we all agreed that attacking the uphill position was a serious challenge for the Saxons and I shall be tweaking the scenario.

Unfortunately that was the high water mark as the Northmen threw in a counter charge and destroyed the Saxons piecemeal. Although 3 Viking earls were slain, Aethelred was wounded and his army broken. A dark day for Wessex !

The refight of the only West Saxon victory of 871 started with a charge on the Viking position and the downing of 3 of the earls described by Asser. King Aethelred was busy taking Mass but Alfred cut his way into the enemy.

I’ve taken the plunge with these Black Guard figures from Reconquer Designs. My first time with resin figures. Metal is normally my go to. Any feedback or suggestions or things to look out for would be appreciated. Any paint jobs pics also welcome. #Midgardheroicbattles
