"Of all the animals, the wolf is perhaps the most feared in terms of superstition... everywhere linked with evil, just like the snake. This is clearly shown in the illustration of a wolf with an evil-looking tail in the Book of Kells". Kieran Hickey. 🎨f76v #medievalsky #WolfAwarenessWeek 🐺

#MedievalSky Does anyone have the latest (Fall 2026) issue of Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Teaching (SMART): www.wichita.edu/academics/fa...? I'm supposed to have an essay in the issue, but was never sent final copy. I need the page numbers of my essay, if you have it. Many thanks!

Growing flotillas using hit-and-run tactics, ambushes and unexpected attacks even on fortified targets - these Vikings were quite the opportunistic terrorists #vikingsky #medievalsky

This week’s Powder Blue Pulp takes us back fourteen years to the very first story I ever sold. “Seven Songs” netted me enough for two paperbacks and a used copy of Resident Evil 4, and it was recorded for the Tales of Old podcast. #medievalsky #booksky

A cocky troubadour bites off more than he can chew when he takes a job for a mad lord who demands he make the dead dance. Originally published in Tales of Old, read by Mark Vevers.

OK #medievalsky, what is going on here? It's an illustration accompanying Psalm 42 that looks like a page from a Book of Hours but probably isn't. A king on a throne with three other characters, one of whom is shooting arrows at a corpse! Seattle MoA 44.663: art.seattleartmuseum.org/objects/1934...
