This #FlashbackFriday we're getting into the seasonal spirit with some of the spookier characters in past HIDden performances- because #medievaldrama has its share of daemons, devils, & mischief-makers! #autumn #spookyseason

Music is a big part of #medievaldrama & all 4 cycles have references to angels singing & liturgical music. But songs unique to the plays are rare- while Coventry's cycle has only 2 texts left, only 1 of which has enough to be performed, with it is the sole example of a mystery play song.

#FlashbackFriday After our debut at the London Museum, we brought "Kings All Comely of Kind", our pair of medieval nativity plays, to an audience in York. Performed at the lovely ancient St Mary Bishophill Jr, here's one of our shepherds giving gifts to Mary during a rehearsal. #medievaldrama

How long have the modern #yorkmysteryplays been performed on waggons? Not quite since the beginning... but maybe for longer than you'd expect! They were introduced due to the great success of 1951, but they stayed as a small side event for nearly forty years. #medievaldrama
