Imagine my surprise when I managed to find two examples of the #WIPSnips wotd!! I went with the more action-oriented one, where the mysterious Hado deals with a “confrontation.“

AN INHUMAN SHRIEK rushed from under Hado’s hood as he curled forward. The group of officers stepped back as one when the hulking man twisted, his enormous fist cocked for a punch. He shook the robe from his right shoulder, exposing a dazzling gleam of polished metal where his forearm should have been. A four-inch piston of polished steel extended almost a foot from his elbow just before he sent his balled hand toward the small door in the gate. The piston exploded forward, accelerated by a burst of compressed air escaping the vents along the rear of his arm. The kinetic bomb of his fist shattered the latch on the other side of the small door as the whole panel was blown inward. Hado leapt into the opening, using the momentum of his punch to fling himself through while the officers reset themselves at their captain’s command. A surreal mechanical professor sits behind a desk in front of a dark, heavily marked chalkboard. His elongated metallic head resembles an antique machine, with exposed cables and mechanisms forming his neck and oversized round goggles covering his eyes. He wears a dark suit, white shirt, and bow tie. One hand holds a thin pointer or pencil above an open book while the other reaches outward, its fingertips appearing darkened and mechanical. Above his head floats a luminous, atom-like formation made from looping elliptical rings and tangled streams of pale white, pink, and red energy. Similar smoky strands drift across the right side of the scene, partially surrounding a shadowy figure behind him. Faint equations and chalk marks stretch across the board. In the upper left corner, a fragmented grid of small overlapping images resembles scattered memories or pages from an experimental notebook. Warm golden illumination enters from the upper right, contrasting with the deep green-black classroom and the glowing energy suspended throughout the composition. Keywords: mechanical professor, chalkboard, goggles, open book, atomic energy, classroom, surrealism, scientific apparatus, glowing smoke, dark academia, machinery, equations AI-generated; use is permitted for non-commercial creative projects.
