Why did Nichiren Shonin hold so firmly to the Lotus Sutra?

Through persecution and exile, he believed its teaching could help people overcome suffering and bring about peace.

Today, 13 October, marks his passing in 1282. We honoured him at RKUK on Sunday.

For Myoko Naganuma, the Lotus Sutra was not something to leave on the page. It had to be lived in the way we treat people. Today we remember the Cofounder of Rissho Kosei-kai (1889–1957). Her life still asks us: are the teachings changing how we meet those around us? #LotusSutra

Nichiren once told an 80-year-old man on the edge of death that he was, in his own aging body, the treasure tower described in chapter eleven of the Lotus Sutra. #NichirenBuddhism #LotusSutra #Buddhism
