Pedro Pascal is phenomenal in Tony Gilroy’s BEHEMOTH!, which tells the heartbreakingly human story of a man who spends most of his life waiting to be seen. Read Serena's review from the BFI London Film Festival! 🔥✨ #Behemoth #PedroPascal #TonyGilroy

#LFF introduced Tender Loving Care as a film we need right now, yet it’s not like Mike sugarcoats what it is to keep your chin up when the rest of the world suffers. And it is still precious light at the end of a long tunnel; all the glorious little joys and laughter of social life against all odds.

Artificial - The OpenAI movie is bone-chilling. Luca, his ensemble and Damon Albarn go turbo chronicling the deadliest bromance of our times, locking you in these lanky dorks’ fragile dreamworlds until you can see through every crack. It’s all we need to see to know how dumb this apocalypse is.

Haigh’s signature tenderness comes into full bloom the deeper A Long Winter delves into guilt and queer repression, while André Turpin produces some of the strongest celluloid imagery I’ve seen all year. It just plays it safer, say, Lean On Pete; sluggish in pace and overly blunt in conviction.

My review of The Face of Horror at #LFF is here: boxd.it/gNSe1p

I adored Anna Biller's THE FACE OF HORROR at #LFF - a fabulous medieval melodrama with some of the best shock moments of the year. Kristine Froseth brings remarkable pathos to the lead part - finding the genuine tragedy and heartbreak lurking beneath the vivid colours.

Yesterday someone came into a #LFF press screening an hour after the film started.

Why?
Why bother?

TENDER LOVING CARE is about putting on a brave face despite the hurts that are barely acknowledged or dismissed with a joke. Its depiction of our ever growing societal malaise is acute but I can’t help feeling it lacks the depth of Mike Leigh’s best films. #LFF

THE BELOVED (Rodrigo Sorogoyen, 2026).
One of my films of the festival so far! On paper, the set-up sounds remarkably like Joachim Trier’s SENTIMENTAL VALUE, as a successful filmmaker (Javier Bardem) tries to persuade his estranged daughter, an actor played by Victoria Luengo, >> #FilmSky #LFF

A colour shot from the film showing thr two main actors (Bardem & Luengo) looking at something off-screen.
