#BigBear. While hormones haven’t fully kicked in, bonding is happening nonetheless. #Kaydee could not keep her beak off #Shadow (we can’t blame her) as they “discussed” stick placement, but Shadow gave as good as he got.

Da spekuliert wird, das #Kaydee&Shadow statt im Januar schon im Dezember mit dem Gelege anfangen könnten, etwas der 2 von vorhin!

#BigBear eagles. The ravens got a little cheeky with #Shadow this afternoon — he shooed them off. Later, he and #Kaydee met up at the nest to shuffle a few sticks before retiring to the Roost Tree for the night.

#BigBear. #Kaydee caught a whopper of a fish. A visiting eagle gave chase, following her to a tree, where #Shadow provided backup. The visitor didn’t stand a chance and flew off. Interesting teamwork as things here progress.

In #BigBear, #Shadow perched for over an hour before #Kaydee joined him. It wasn’t till then that he moved to the nest & shuffled a few sticks. It’s early days & I'm hopeless at reading their minds, so just grateful to observe and learn.

#BigBear never fails to bring dramatic weather. #Shadow & #Kaydee perched separately throughout the big thunderstorm. As Kaydee was trying some new perches, a HUGE clap of thunder made her lose her footing and she flew off.

Und da waren beide auch schon wieder weg.
Erst flog #Shadow links ab, dann #Kaydee rechts.

#Kaydee brought the 1st stick of the season. When #Shadow arrived she seemed pretty excited and nibbled his beak, then his feathers, which he accepted. It was quite a change in dynamics from the previous day.

#Shadow & #Kaydee spent about 8 minutes in the nest together. The changing interactions are fascinating. It is early days. We watch, learn, and trust the eagles.

In #BigBear, #Shadow & #Kaydee met in the evening on their Roost Tree & started their day on the Lookout Snag for a short time.

I also took a moment in this video to honor #Jackie on the one-month mark since her passing.

In #BigBear, while they roosted separately overnight, #Shadow & #Kaydee met up at dawn. They watched each other across the habitat before meeting on the Lookout Snag. They then resumed their off-season adventures.
