Ixalan’tober day 12:
Happy Indigenous People’s Day!

A very quick (30min) portrait of Anim Pakal (modeled after Maya Pop star, Belle “La Malixita”).
And some early progress shot of the back design for my Ixalan deckbox.

I missed yesterday’s Ixalan’tober because I was too exhausted after throwing my daughter’s 5th birthday party.

Here are the custom glyphs I made for Ixalan’s Vampires, Dinosaurs, Merfolk and Pirates. #ixalan #mtg #art #indigenous #copper

I’ve been putting up party decorations all evening for my soon-to-be 5yr old, but set aside a few minutes to fulfill my Ixalan’tober art quota.

Here’s a quick portrait of Huatli. Who is she smirking at? 😏

Modeled after indigenous rights activist: Helena Gualinga #ixalan #indigenous #mtg #drawing

Do I glue entire copper panels to the deckbox? Leaving only edges of the teal showing?

Or do I cut out each glyph so that there’s more teal negative space?

Making my own glyphs for the Ixalan factions. 1. Vampires. Combined Maya glyphs for Camazotz (Bat God), blood/smoke/prayer, the sign for ak’bal or “dusk” on a conquistador’s helmet - Legion of Dusk. Details like fangs and mustache. #mtgLCI #ixalan #mtg #maya

Ixalan’tober: Day 2
This is less of a drawing and just a progress shot of my work on my custom deckbox for my Ixalan deck.

Ixalan’tober Day 1 - Sentinel of the Nameless City. (Timelapse Video to follow)

Not that anyone might care but I’m about to upgrade my Ixalan deck with a custom deckbox! Cosmium dice, jade interior, and embossed copper exterior!

Copper has been a staple in pre-columbian Central and South American metallurgy. #ixalan #art
